You’re asking a lawyer. So naturally, I’m gonna say it’s a lot better if you hire a lawyer, but you can make a claim on your own. Some states even make you file the claim on your own because they don’t want to have to pay more than whatever the minimum is.

And that’s essentially what happens when people file claims on their own. The manufacturer tells them this is the best we can do, and that’s not always the best they can do. So it’s always good to have a lawyer in your corner.
