Taken Advantage by Dealership Because of Bad Credit

May 8, 2014 by Chuck Panzarella

Taken Advantage by Dealership Because of Bad CreditWere you taken advantage of by a dealership because of poor or bad credit? Did a buy here, pay here dealership give you an extremely high-interest rate on your auto loan that makes your payments much higher than they should be? There are plenty of dealers that advertise that they can “finance anyone” regardless of credit score, but their rates are often much higher than average. These high-interest auto loans from car dealerships take advantage of individuals who need a vehicle to commute to and from work or school – and they often make the rates so high that the driver can barely afford to make their monthly payments. Has this happened to you?

Many drivers are able to secure financing for used cars at a rate between 3% and 6%. When dealerships offer in-house financing to an individual with poor or bad credit, the rates are often much higher. In some cases, the interest rate on the loan may be 10%, or even higher. While this is a legal practice, it’s often done in bad faith on the part of the dealership. Dealerships that are willing to offer loans to people with low credit scores often commit Auto Fraud against their buyers so that they can earn the maximum profit from the car they are selling.

If you think that the dealership may have given you a loan that has rates much higher than what they should be, then we want to speak with you today. Our auto dealer fraud attorney will review your sales contract, finance agreement, and any other documents that the dealership gave you at the time of purchase. We will come through your paperwork to see if the dealership did anything illegal, such as if the car dealer lied about a down payment, or with the sale in general. Most of our clients aren’t aware of all the tricks that a dealership can use to scam customers, but our auto fraud attorneys are, and we sue dealerships to get what is right.

Is There Anything You Can Do?

Many people simply don’t know where to start looking for help if they were taken advantage of by a dealership simply because they have bad credit. Our experienced car lawyers will take the time to listen to your situation, review your documents from the dealer, and determine if you have a legal case against them. We often find other frauds besides just financing issues. Buy Here Pay Here dealerships have also been found to sell used cars that have previously been in accidents, have undisclosed frame damage, or even salvage titles.

People who have already been scammed by the dealership are often nervous about even calling an auto attorney for fear that they will be taken advantage of again. Our Auto Fraud consultations are free. Our auto fraud clients sign contingency retainer agreements – we’re on your side and we will make every effort to help you reach your goals. In most cases like these, our auto lawyers find that people aim to cancel their contract with the dealership and get their money back. Is this the case with you?
